Tang Primer 20K Dock Kit
GOWIN GW2A-LV18
Introduction
Tang Primer 20K Dock Kit is an FPGA development kit based on the Gowin GW2A-LV18PG256C8/I7 FPGA chip, consisting of a core board in DDR3 SODIMM form factor and the Dock extension board (Dock ext-board), which makes all of the core board's features available. The core board features 20,736 LUT4 logic units, 15,552 flip-flops, 4 PLLs, 128M DDR3 memory and 32 Mbit NOR Flash. The Dock extension board provides a rich development environment with HDMI, Ethernet (RTL8201F), RGB565 LCD, DVP camera, microphone array and touch panel interfaces, 4 PMOD connectors, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, USB-JTAG & UART (BL702) and a user-defined USB (USB3317) port.

Attention and Best Practices
- Troubleshooting: If you encounter any issues, consult the Tang Questions page first.
- Enabling the Core Board on the Dock: The core board must be enabled before accessing the chip with the debugger. To do this, set switch 1 of the DIP switch down. Otherwise, LED0 and LED1 light up and the core board does not work.
- IO Bank Voltage: The default bank voltage of bank 0, bank 1 and bank 7 on the core board is 3.3V. If you want to customize the input IO bank voltage, you need to remove resistors R5 and R9 (see the Bit map document for their locations).
- Access Problem After Burning Flash: If the wrong Dual-Purpose pin is enabled, the debugger may no longer be able to scan the FPGA's JTAG. On the Dock board, this can be solved by switching switch 1 of the DIP switch up and down when the progress bar appears during programming.
- Static Electricity Precautions: Always discharge static electricity before touching or handling the PCBA (printed circuit board assembly). This is important to prevent the board from being damaged by static electricity.
- GPIO Voltage Compliance: Ensure that the working voltage of the GPIO pins does not exceed the rated value indicated in the schematic. Exceeding these limits can cause permanent damage to the PCBA.
- FPC Cable Connection: When connecting FPC flexible cables, ensure that the cable is fully and properly inserted into the connector without any offset.
- Plugging/Unplugging the Camera: Disconnect the power completely before plugging in or unplugging the camera.
- Avoid Short Circuits: Prevent liquids or metal objects from coming into contact with the component pads on the PCBA while the board is powered on. Such contact can cause a short circuit and damage the board.
